How the Healing Process Affects Your Results
The treatment approach behind your rhinoplasty is not the only aspect that can affects how soon you can see your results. The healing process may hide your final results for more or less time than expected. For example, it is important to note that open rhinoplasty may leave a scar on your columella – the tissue of the lower part of your nose that separates your nostrils. In almost all patients, this scar heals completely and is not visible. But during the healing process from your rhinoplasty, the swelling in this area may temporarily obscure the final result.
To expedite your recovery and see your final results as soon as possible, we recommend avoiding strenuous activity and exercise during the first few weeks following surgery. Many patients also have found that keeping their heads elevated and using a cold compress helps alleviate their swelling, which promotes a speedier recovery.
From the moment you schedule your first consultation at Schoemann Plastic Surgery in Encinitas, Dr. Schoemann will guide you through every phase of the rhinoplasty process, from the initial steps to recovery. You will have a follow-up appointment within 2-3 days after your procedure, in which we will check in on your healing process and ensure you are well way on your way to achieving the results that will make you feel the most confidence. Our goal is to use our expertise to create the balance and functionality that you want.
