There are many factors to consider when choosing your implants – size and shape being two of the most notable. While many of these factors will come down to your personal preferences and needs, Dr. Schoemann will use his expertise and years of experience to ensure that you achieve the outcome you want from your breast augmentation.
Many of the patients we work with at Schoemann Plastic Surgery in Encinitas are hoping to achieve not just additional fullness with their breast augmentation, but also an improved shape. It can be hard for some patients to determine what holds the most priority between these two components.
To start, there are two commonly used implant shapes – round and teardrop. The majority of Dr. Schoemann’s breast augmentation patients choose round implants, which provide an even fullness. Teardrop implants, on the other hand, have more volume in the lower portion. Depending on your desired look and the amount of current breast tissue you have, Dr. Schoemann will make a recommendation regarding size and shape.
At our Encinitas, CA practice, our patients are primarily concerned with achieving a natural-looking result. While increasing the breast volume with an implant will certainly make your breasts larger, the actual shape of the implant can determine how natural and aesthetically pleasing the breast augmentation outcome is.
Depending on what size you would like to achieve, Dr. Schoemann may temporarily switch out multiple implants during surgery to get an idea of a better fit and to ensure you are getting the results that will make you feel your best and most confident. For those with a lower amount of existing breast tissue, an implant that provides both shape and volume may be used. Alternatively, for patients with a higher amount of existing tissue, they may choose an implant providing the most additional volume if they already have a shape they prefer.
In determining what size and shape will be proportionate for your body frame, Dr. Schoemann and his trained staff will have a detailed consultation with you to address any concerns and questions you may have, while also ensuring your desired look is achieved. Additionally, 3D imaging and sizers may be used to help you understand how various sizes and shapes may look on your frame.
While Dr. Schoemann will work with and educate each patient individually to accomplish a beautiful and balanced result, it is truly up to our patients to decide the look they hope to obtain with their breast augmentation procedure.
